Strip clubs in the UK: how a night works and where to go, city by city
What to expect at a UK strip club or gentlemen's club, the house rules and etiquette, and a city-by-city selection from London to Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Bournemouth.

A UK strip club is a show bar first: a stage, a bar and dancers performing through the evening, usually under strict house rules. Our directory lists more than 30 strip clubs in the UK. Here is how a night works, what the rules are, and a city-by-city selection.
What a UK strip club is like
Most clubs combine a main stage, a cocktail bar and quieter lounges. Shows run continuously or at set times through the evening, and many venues also host club nights, sports screenings or packages for stag parties and birthdays. Strip clubs in the UK need a specific local licence, and each club sets its own rules on behaviour, dress code and what guests may and may not do. Those rules are explained at the door and enforced by staff.
House rules and etiquette
- Look, don't touch. Contact with performers is not allowed unless the club's rules say otherwise, and staff will step in.
- No photos or filming. Phones stay in pockets in the show areas.
- Respect the performers. Polite requests, polite refusals. A "no" from a dancer is final.
- Bring ID. Clubs check age at the door, and some apply a dress code (no sportswear, smart shoes).
- Check the house currency. Some clubs use their own vouchers for shows; staff explain how it works when you arrive.
- Groups book ahead. Stag parties and large groups are usually asked to book.

London
Near Bethnal Green station, Metropolis spreads over several floors, with dancers on weeknights and club nights in a building regularly featured by London listings guides. In Soho, Rhino at the Windmill occupies the Windmill, an entertainment venue since the 1930s, with live shows at weekends, including twice-nightly performances on Fridays and Saturdays. On the edge of Shoreditch and the City, 23 Paul Street has no central stage: guests move through a five-storey townhouse with a basement cocktail bar, panelled lounges and karaoke rooms. All London addresses are on the strip clubs in London page.
North of England
Liverpool

Just off Victoria Street, Angels Paradise pairs a pole stage with a cocktail bar and mainly welcomes groups at weekends. In the business district on Old Hall Street, its sister club Angels VIP opens every night with stage shows and packages for stag parties and birthdays. More on the strip clubs in Liverpool page.
Newcastle
On Dean Street, between the city centre and the Quayside, Blue Velvet is an intimate show club with late-night stage shows every evening. On Grainger Street, the For Your Eyes Only Newcastle club doubles as a sports bar, with resident DJs and big screens for match and fight nights.
Scotland
In Glasgow, Diamond Dolls opened in 1999 on Mitchell Street near Glasgow Central and spreads over three floors, with the stage on the main floor, a third-floor lounge and a cigar room. In Edinburgh, Baby Dolls has been in the West Port area below the castle since 2002, a compact show bar with stage shows through the evening. Further north, on Bridge Street in Aberdeen, Angels Behind the Mask makes pole showcases the highlight of the night.
Wales and the south coast
On St Mary Street in the heart of Cardiff, the recently refurbished For Your Eyes Only Cardiff runs continuous shows on a central stage with table service. In Bournemouth, on Old Christchurch Road, For Your Eyes Only Bournemouth is a short walk from bars, hotels and the beach.
Planning a group night
For a stag do or a birthday, contact the club a few days ahead: many offer group packages with reserved seating and drinks. Agree a budget within the group before you go, keep an eye on each other, and plan the journey home in advance. If part of the group would rather see a different kind of show, a drag night can be a good alternative: the UK has a lively cabaret scene.
