The last beach of Costa da Caparica, in the municipality of Almada south of the Tagus, Praia da Bela Vista was among the first beaches in Portugal to legalise naturism. Its naturist zone, nicknamed 'Dezanove', starts about 400 m from the Casa da Praia restaurant and is one of the best-known gay beaches in Europe.
